Position Title: NUTRITION MANAGER ASHLAND HIGH SCHOOL
Reports to: Nutrition Services Director
Primary Function: Responsible for meal preparation, food service management, functions, sanitation and supervision/training of department school nutrition staff
Funded by: District Nutrition Services Budget
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in back of the house food service including food preparation, ordering and inventory maintenance, preferably in school food service
- Prior supervisory experience required
- Self-directed and motivated
- Positive attitude and patience are mandatory
- Basic computer skills required in Word, Google Docs and Excel, POS experience helpful
- Ability to push, pull, lift and carry on a frequent and continuous basis weights of 10 to 50 pounds
- Servsafe and Allergen Awareness Certification required.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for assigning, training and managing each person in the kitchen to a specific job in meal preparation, service, cashiering, food handling, storage, allergen and sanitation requirements
- Cross training of staff
- Responsible for managing meal preparation for allergen students.
- Prepares and serves all meals on schedule, adhering to department budgetary requirements
- Develops new standardized recipes and uses standards of practice in the production of quality food products which provide tasteful, nutritious quality meals adhering to USDA meal patterns and production planning
- Utilizes “leftovers” in the best possible manner for positive cost control
- Responsible for the sanitation and orderly inventory management of the freezer, refrigerator, and store room
- Completes weekly USDA commodity foods inventory.
- Completes monthly inventory on the last day of the month
- Prepares and submits online and phone orders for all product categories as required.
- Completes all daily production and documentation required by USDA and DESE and local requirements for all foods and services provided by the school nutrition department
- Performs duties of other cafeteria workers as necessary or as directed by the Director of Nutrition Services
- Attends paid and voluntary training and professional development to meet ongoing improvement of professional skills that are needed to remain proficient in Nutrition Manager position
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Nutrition Services
