This position is intended for the 2024-2025 school year.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support the Head Teacher in all tasks relevant to the site's function.
- Manages the site in the absence of the Head Teacher.
- Supervise and provide mentoring to high school aides
- Manage homework time
- Enforce the rules and expectations of the program.
- Planning and implementing activities in enrichment. Such topics could include arts and crafts, STEM, team building, nature, cooperative games, traditional sports, board games, etc. Activities can be based on the student's interests and the teacher's passion.
- Assisting in daily attendance
- Supervising students in unstructured settings such as hallways, cafeteria, recess, etc;
- Assisting in the clean-up and organization of EDP spaces, and utility closets
- Interacting appropriately and professionally with students to maintain their engagement in the program
- Interacting professionally with parents, students, and co-workers
- Respect children's confidentiality in all interactions with staff, parents, and the school community
- Creating an orderly space while using a positive and consistent approach to behavior management
- Sharing observations with the Head Teacher and the Director regarding program concerns
- Attending staff meetings, training, field trips, and special events as needed
- Other duties as assigned by the Head Teacher, Assistant Director, or Director
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, or run
- The employee must occasionally be asked to lift and move heavy objects
- This position requires a person who can work with many distractions and interruptions which include but are not limited to phone calls, parent interactions, walkie-talkie use, loud environments, and more
- The employee must be able to respond to emergencies (e.g. injured students, behavior problems, etc.)
- The employee is required to work outside in any weather condition that is deemed safe and appropriate for students
Requirements:
- College-level experience in education or a related field (psychology, sociology, etc.) with supporting experience preferred (school support staff, summer camp counselor, daycare facility, etc.).
- Experience managing groups of school-age students in an educational or recreational setting strongly preferred.
- CPR/AED/First Aid training or the ability to be trained
- Valid Drivers License
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday
- Must be willing to work 5 days a week
- Start time: approximately 1:45 PM
- End time: 6:00 PM
Rate:
- Per hour based on experience
